Welcome to Bon Bon TiE

BonBon TiE is a Theatre in Education group dedicated to providing high quality immersive, interesting and educational performances for children aged between five and eighteen years. As a newly formed theatre company we are looking to develop a varied programme of activity across the Isle of Wight and South Coast, working with education providers to develop projects that ‘tie’ into the curriculum.

With experience of creating theatre for a variety of audiences in a range of styles, we want to hear from you to see how our professional company can support your educational needs.

What do we do?

We create theatre based on your needs! As part of the service we meet to discuss the theme or message that you want to share and create a piece of theatre for your target audience. Sometimes this may be for a single year group to incorporate something specific to the learning aims within a subject, or for a full key stage as a more general message (example: road safety).

The package that we put together is bespoke to you and can simply cover the cost of a one off show or a range of activities to include teachers resources, workshops and performances.

Thanks to the Mike Howley Trust

Bon Bon Tie has received funding from the Mike Howley Trust to develop a project for the academic year 2019/2020 in partnership with English Heritage (see ‘current projects’ for more information on how to get involved).

Mike Howley, who worked for many years as Director of Cultural Services for the Isle of Wight Council, died in May 2013. Under the terms of his will, a share of the residue of his estate was left “for the specific benefit of aspiring young actors, musicians, dancers and writers, between the ages of 18 and 30, living on the Isle of Wight”.

Charlie Bonner of Bon Bon Tie said ‘The financial support from the Mike Howley Trust has enabled me to develop a project that will be free to primary schools on the Isle of Wight between October 2019 and February 2020. I am very excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our local community and can’t wait to share it with KS2 children living on the Isle of Wight.
